LPS-Public is an open source Linux distribution, providing a lightweight client, designed to run directly on mobile devices and ensure the safety of personal data and user accounts, distributed as a Live CD with many default applications.
LPS-Public (short for Lightweight Portable Security) is a version of Linux created by the United States Air Force Research Laboratory as part of the Software Protection Initiative for use on government websites that restrict identity verification (PIV) and Common Access Cards.

The LPS-Public operating system is distributed as three Live CDs, LPS Public, LPS Public Deluxe and LPS Remote Access, easily installed on USB drives using the UNetbootin application or burned to a blank CD using CD/DVD burning software.
LPS-Public comes with rich default applications, including OpenOffice office suite, Mozilla Firefox web browser, PDF visualizer as well as many other basic utilities, the most interesting of which is OpenOffice office software with many features in word editing, spreadsheet creation, … Besides, LPS-Public has the ability to automatically detect smart cards and supports remote desktop connection.
